All-Clad Master Chef 2 2-Quart Saucepan

All-Clad Master Chef 2 2-Quart Saucepan with Lid

If you are a serious cook who wants serious quality cookware, then All Clad is a great option. If you are not 100 percent familiar with All Clad, here is a brief description of what you can expect from them...All of their lines have a full aluminum core (which provides excellent heat retention and distribution) and stainless steel interiors (which offer an easy to use, non reactive cooking surface). It is the best of both worlds combined in one piece of cookware. The difference between the various lines of All Clad is simply the exterior surface...stainless steel (obviously their Stainless line), anodized aluminum (the LTD line), Copper (Copper Chef line), Stainless with an added layer of copper in the core (Copper Core), and brushed aluminum (the MC2 or "Master Chef 2" line). They are all, in my opinion, excellent cookware, but each one has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of the Master Chef 2 line, which this saucepan hails from are:

1)The brushed aluminum exterior gives it added thickness and heft. In my opinion, this provides better cooking qualities than most of the other AC lines (except for the LTD which is even slightly thicker). While all lines of AC perform beautifully, I feel MC2 has slightly better heat retention and distribution. I enjoy the cooking experience a little more with MC2 than I do with the stainless line.

2)It costs less. I think we all agree that's an advantage!

However the main disadvantage of the MC2 line, in my opinion, is strictly cosmetic. Straight out of the box, the saucepan will look beautiful, but over time, it's exterior will undergo intense marring. It doesn't matter how much you baby your cookware, these pans scratch horribly and discolor very easily. I don't care what anyone says...I have tried every trick in the book to rid my MC2 of their ugly discolorations, and nothing works. And as far as scratches go, once they're there, they are there for good. If looks are a big issue with you and/or you keep your pots and pans on display in your kitchen, bear in mind that these pans take quite a beating. These just will not have the striking beauty of the stainless or copper core line.

As far as this particular saucepan, it's definitely a winner. With the thick aluminum core and exterior, you will definitely enjoy the performance that this pan will offer you. Your sauces won't scorch as easily as lower quality pans and you will find you will have much more control over your cooking with a pan like this. It is certainly a joy to cook in it, as is all of All Clad cookware. And the accompanying stainless steel lid is durable and tight-fitting, everything a lid should be. Do bear in mind that this saucepan is not like a typical two quart saucepan. Most 2 quart pans are wide and short. This pan is tall and narrow. (It doesn't even measure 6 inches across and is smaller in girth than my 1 and a half quart saucepan). The advantage to that is you will get less splatter and less evaporation with a pan of this shape, but to me, the narrow girth of this pan is a distinct disadvantage. I cook on Thermador burners which are very wide. The flame on my burners completely devour this pan and I have to use a medium to medium low heat setting at the most or the flame will lop up the sides of my pan. If you have pro appliances with wide burners, then this will be an issue for you. You will either have to use a low flame or invest in a simmer plate. This fact, along with the exterior marring, is what made this pan lose a star for me. However, if I were to rate this pan solely on performance, then it would earn five stars all the way! Even with the drawbacks, I'm still a very proud owner!

Product Description:
Amazon.com Review:
The second generation of All-Clad's Master Chef line (MC2), this cookware combines brushed aluminum with stainless-steel accents for a contemporary look. Like All-Clad's other renowned cookware collections, Master Chef provides serious and professional cooks with all the virtues that make All-Clad's worldwide reputation unsurpassed. Key to its high performance is a three-ply, bonded construction. Sandwiched between the exterior and an 18/10 stainless-steel interior is a thick aluminum core that spreads heat evenly across the bottom of the pan and all the way up its sides. The interior is highly polished so it's stick- as well as corrosion-resistant. Handles, rivets, and tight-fitting lids are all gleaming stainless steel.

This classic, straight-sided, 2-quart saucepan illustrates the Master Chef line's stylish yet practical design. Because the aluminum core extends up the sides, foods cook uniformly in the pan, even though it's 4-1/4 inches deep. And because the interior is nonreactive, tomato-based sauces and other acidic foods won't taste metallic. The pan's polished 18/10 stainless-steel pan and lid handles are riveted for strength and grooved on the top for comfort. The long handle (holed for hanging on a hook or peg) stays cool on the stovetop but won't be harmed by an oven's heat. Master Chef cookware carries a lifetime warranty against defects and should be hand washed. --Fred Brack

My wife loves it ...
and that's all that counts! That, and the item appears very durable, with lifetime warranty.

Nice pan
I've only had this pan for about a week now, but so far it's been just what I needed. I've used to to warm cream and, along with a metal Amco mixing bowl, serve as a double boiler, where I prefer a pan taller than it is wide, and it's worked just fine. I don't think the appearance is as attractive as the stainless or even the LTD lines, but it's not bad, really. Performance matters more, anyway. Plus, I found this pan mis-marked at Dillard's for a mere .75, so I wasn't going to pass it up just because it isn't shiny on the outside. A pan of this size and shape is very handy to have, and I would buy this one again without hesitation...even though I personally would rather have the stainless, mainly because I wonder how well the exterior will wear.

Excellent construction for it's purpose. Buy It.
I chose to try the Master Chef 2 construction because it is the line used in the Food Network's 'Iron Chef America' kitchens, and I wanted something to replace both a very old, very thin stainless steel pot and a newer, but very, very heavy Calphalon anodized aluminum pot. As with everything else I have gotten from the Master Chef 2 line, this piece does a better job than anything of the same size and shape which I have replaced. I have both the 2 quart saucepan and saucier, and find that I really need both. The saucepan is superior for straight cooking, as when making rice or blanching small vegetables, but the saucier is superior for, you guessed it, making sauces, risottos, oatmeal, and anything else which requires constant stirring. And, you often need to do both at the same time, so they make a very nice team.

Awesome little pot . . . .
The high sides on this pot make it great! perfect pot for sauces, oatmeal, etc.

Marcy Diamond Elite MD1559 Home Gym with 150-Pound Weight Stack

We purchased this at a fitness/ sports store near our home during the holiday discounts- got a very good deal.

We set it up in our basement in just about 2 hours. Not complicated at all. The instructions weren't perfect, but we managed! We also had to move it later to add foam mats underneath, and it wasn't too much of a bear.

After a couple of weeks of use, there were only a few minor complaints. Like the previous reviewer, i had to make adjustments to the accessory chains etc to fit my ideal range of motion. I'm only 5'1", so some of the motions are a little long/high for me. It is unfortunate that none of the seat parts are adjustable. If we were looking to spend more, this would have been a great feature, given our range in height (he's 6'1"!). Given that, the leg extensions are still proper for me. The biggest drag is that the slider bars (where the weights slide up and down) are not thoroughly lubricated. So when i'm being a light weight (< 20 lbs), the resistance is gone on retraction. We are going to try lubing the bars with some silicone to help this. We might need to add some to the pulley wires to slip it all up a bit.

The set came with locking C- shaped "carabiners", which are a pain for switching accessories. We picked up a couple of regular ones to replace them. We also purchased adapter plates for our weight stack (2.5 and 5 lbs plates) in order to extend the flexibility.

It was a great addition to our home gym. We had to purchase a couple extras to make it the most convenient and maximize its use. However, for what we paid for it, we are totally fine with that!

Marcy Home Gym
Purchased from [...]. I am a 40+ amateur female bodybuilder. I put this together with my 12 y.o. son in about 2 1/2 hours. I have been training at home for 2 years with free weights and needed a lat pull machine along with leg machine. The pec/fly & chest press feature does not offer full range of motion, but I use dumbbells anyway. The vinyl weights do not slide incredibly smoothly...hope this improves with use. Lat pull is adequate although I needed to shorten it up for full range of motion and remove the arm curl pad. I will be replacing the C chain clips with carbineer clips for quick release on chains. Leg extension and leg curl are mediocre...not 100% ergonomically correct...too high for me and I am 5'6". I will be tweaking this with a board under my thigh to give some extra lift. Looks are nice and it is compact. [...]. This machine will not improve on the work accomplished with dumbbells for flys/presses. Low pulley is good for curls and seated rows, upright rows....full range of motion. Seems to be constructed solidly. [...]!

Motorola ROKR E8 Cell Phone - Unlocked

Motorola ROKR E8 Cell Phone - Unlocked

I'm just going to sum this phone up in a few sentences. First, it looks great. It has a simple, yet elegant design. Next, it has good performance. While it's not as great as most Sony Ericsson phones, you won't receive too much lag, especially after you add more memory. Lastly, the battery is very good, and easily only needs to be plugged in once a day for an hour or so.

Pros- Decent Music Player

2mp Camera can create high resolution pictures, though they aren't amazing.

True Headphone Jack

2gb On board memory, expandable to 6gb.

Great battery Life

Scroll Wheel:Better than iPod wheel

Cool morphing keyboard.

Cons- Music player lags sometimes

Camera has no flash, and needs one

Faux Buttons are hard to text with, lag sometimes

Durability is questionable; Screen scratches easily; Definately buy a protector

3-d like menu lags to point of uselessness; Use one of the other menu options instead.

OVERALL- I can't really recommend this phone to one specific audience, except for those who want a little bit of everything on their phone, in which case, this is a great buy.

Nice phone slow processor
In general the features on this phone are well done. Things are pretty intuitive and well thought out. The display is ok for a smaller display. I really like that key pad is easy to feel and totally closed from dust. Motorola's click/scroll wheel which is intended to be similar to the one found on an ipod is ok but seriously lacks something when compared with an ipod.

My biggest gripe is that the processor on the phone is a bit on the slow side. Every now and then the display looks frozen and the buttons don't do anything. Give the phone a few seconds and it catches up with you, whatever you last typed or the last command you gave the phone actually happens, just after a short delay.

Oh you, call quality is good and (my last phone was a smart phone)I think battery life is fantastic.

good for music
I researched in the web for several weeks for a good unlocked phone with some real good music. I couldn't figure out which phone to buy but when i got this i knew it was the one I was looking for. With ipod quality music in headset n best in the inbuilt speaker this phone gives you rid of carrying two gadgets in your two pockets. The new keypad system that the motorolla introduced in this phone is real unique.
But if you are looking for a good camera phone its maynot be for you. The 2 megapixel camera is not so worthy and gives an average quality picture.
Over all its not so expensive so guys go for it n give a try. You will then have a most coolest phone among your frens(provided non of your frens have iphone) just kiding......

Love the phone, but there's a catch...
I've had this phone for about 4 months now and I have to say that I really like it. The look of the phone is really appealing, and the interface is really quite new and different. Navigation is pretty smooth and intuitive (when it isn't lagging, more on that later) and I love the way the keys change depending on what mode your in. Call quality is crisp and loud. The display is very good quality and album images and text appear clear and sharp. The mp3 player on this phone is one of the best I've heard. I connect it to my car stereo and, as far as audio is concerned, it even blows away the Creative Zen I had before. Even the built in speakers are pretty good and don't sound as hollow and tiny as other phones.

Now for the bad. The reason I only gave this phone 3 stars is because of two pretty big issues. The first is the 2mp camera. For 2megapixels this produces some awuful shots. The colors are washed out, blurry, and grainy no matter what light you're in. Even the 1.3mp camera on my TMobile Dash took better pictures. Much much better pictures. The other issue is this ... the phone has 2GB of built in memory, but beware of using it to store songs. The built in memory is touchy at best. Some songs transferred to the phone mem just flat out wouldn't work. On top of that, putting songs on the phone memory causes the phone to experience some serious lagging. And it can get pretty bad, even hanging and lagging during calls. Forget calling any company that asks you to hit a series of mumbers to get to the right department, and punching in something like an account # is a nightmare. The only reason I didn't mark off heavily for this feature is because if you put songs on the micro sd only this seems to solve the problem. But you do have to set the phone to keep the phone memory seperate from the memory card. If it shares then it's the same issue.

So, a good mp3 phone, cool interface, but bad pictures and make sure you upgrade the free 1gb micro sd stick because the 2GB on the phone is pretty useless. Maybe a firmware upgrade will fix that later.
